My message for 2026 … YOU GOT THIS.
People are amazing – they really are. Working with hundreds of survivors, it is clear the attitudes, mindset and practices provided an awareness of their capability and resilience. However, I have noted that all too often those ideals are not readily acknowledged. It may be due to messages that fail to recognize personal powers and potential. But science is clear, we are not only surviving machines – we are thriving machines. We control amazing systems that once activated, respond to the task at hand. Sometimes we experience immediate growth, sometimes it happens overtime but the ability to react with resolve is ever present.
When ending my lectures on PTG and the Metahab System, a slide I like to show is Dorthy’s ruby slippers from the 1939 film: The Wizard of Oz. At the end of the film, she is reminded that she always had those slippers, that power. It just never manifested itself until she was forced to enlist assistance and productively engage with adversities that came her way.
We are all like this – we have those ruby slippers. Meaningfully, bravely and purposefully taking on challenges and hardships is our training. It preps us and our systems to handle bigger trials. So, a final thought from 2025 is straightforward – we are incredibly strong and resilient, but we are only aware of and build that power when we push ourselves, when we test ourselves.
My message to begin 2026 involves Stage 2 of Metahab – say YES to life. Press on, emotionally, intellectually and spiritually – your systems are powerful and will respond. Always remind yourself … YOU GOT THIS because … you really do!
Happy Holidays and best wishes for an amazing 2026.
